Urbans team member Rachel Church is a construction champion, being recognised for the quality of her work at a prestigious industry and training awards night.
Rachel was nominated for the Harry Wauer Memorial Award for the Certificate III in Civil Construction Apprentice of the Year.
The awards were presented at the 2023 Civil Contractors Federation SA Industry & Training Awards.
Rachel is employed as a Leading Hand in Urbans’ Landscape Construction team and has been involved in many projects, where works have included playground equipment installation, paving, concreting, planting, turf installation, irrigation and fencing.
Urbans CEO Belinda Seddon said the nomination highlights the high standard of work and strong ethic that Rachel always exhibits when on the work site.
“Rachel shows great maturity and leadership, whilst maintaining a level head,” Belinda said.
“A team player, Rachel’s work ethic is solid, and although ‘young’ in her career, she is an excellent role model for other apprentices.”
On the worksite, Rachel has also taken on a key role in a street-tree screening program and has built an excellent knowledge of plants and shrubs.
Always keen to undertake more training, Rachel is a self-starter and is about to commence Certificate III in Road Construction Earthworks and Kerb Project Assessment.
Urbans’ Landscape & Civil Construction Manager Gary Fitzpatrick is highly supportive of Rachel and has great faith in her abilities.
“Rachel is an excellent operator. She is someone who takes feedback well and shows great initiative. Once allocated to a job, I know that I can rely on Rachel to turn up and work to the best of her ability, whilst also showing initiative on site.”
Rachel is a valued employee of Urbans and is worthy of recognition through an award such as this and we take great delight in acknowledging her nomination.
